How I Validated My SaaS Ideas in Less Than a Week
Hey everyone,
I wanted to share a process that’s been working well for me when it comes to validating SaaS ideas quickly. I’ve wasted time in the past building products nobody wanted, so now I’m much more focused on research and validation before heavily investing. Here’s the approach I started using:
Step 1: Start with the Problem
If you don’t already have an idea in mind start by finding a problem, I started by finding a clear problem that people were actively complaining about online. Reddit and Twitter are great for this. Look for posts where people vent about challenges in their work/niche or life.
Step 2: Check the Market
Next, I research existing solutions to see what’s already out there. Instead of getting discouraged by competitors, I looked at what they were missing. Common complaints, unmet needs, or untapped audiences are key.

Step 3: Analyze the Target Audience
I spend time understanding the people most affected by the problem. Who are they? What do they struggle with? This step helps refine your messaging and develop your product direction.
Validation Step 1: Validate with Data
To speed this part up, I built a tool called Profiolio. It gives me insights into the market size, competitor gaps, and even a detailed customer profile for my idea and much more actionable metrics. It is super helpful for pinpointing areas where I could stand out.
If not, you could find all the data manually such as competitor comparisons, weaknesses, strengths, pricing, features but it may take you hours or even days. Profiolio provides you with all of this in under 5 minutes.
Validation Step 2: Landing Page + Waitlist
The best indication of having a good SaaS ideas is paying clients, however not every product can be sold before building (Very Hard).
So the next best way to validate is to put up a beautiful landing page with a waitlist. This is perfect because it still requires the person signing up some kind of commitment, which is giving you their “email” in this case.
Promoting the waitlist
Once you have have set up a beautiful landing page with good UI/UX (crucial), you have to get your “Target Audience(s)” to learn about your product.
If you’re not sure if you have multiple Target Audiences to reach Profiolio gives you all your potential audiences.
There’s a few ways to do this and I recommend you do everything you can to promote your waitlist to the relevant audience.
Join relevant subreddits and post about what you’re building and how it helps. You should also engage in the comments and reply to relevant discussions.
X (formerly Twitter)
Share updates, behind-the-scenes progress, and thoughts on the problem you solve. Join communities, niche conversations, and engage with relevant accounts to increase visibility.
Write posts about the problem your product solves and its value. Announce your waitlist and reach out to connections who might benefit from your solution.
Discord Groups
Join communities where your audience is active. Engage in discussions, build trust, and share your waitlist in appropriate channels without spamming.
YouTube
Create short videos like product demos or tutorials. Highlight the problem you solve and add your waitlist link in descriptions and comments.
TikTok and Instagram (if B2C)
Use trends and reels to showcase your product’s benefits. Share your journey, post engaging content, and link your waitlist in your bio and captions.
